Project update: Kingston Hospital DxA track

Following a period of preparation, running the new laboratory equipment in standalone mode and carrying out extensive refurbishment works, we have now reached the next phase of the project at Kingston Hospital (part of Kingston and Richmond NHS Foundation Trust). Last week, we have started the second phase of the implementation: the installation of the Beckman Coulter Diagnostics DxA track.

Over several early mornings, the equipment was brought in and taken up to the first floor. By spreading the deliveries across multiple mornings, we were able to minimise disruption to the hospital’s day-to-day operations while ensuring there was sufficient space to safely manoeuvre the equipment through the lifts and corridors.

Whilst the installation was in full swing, the contractors and fitters were on standby to switch over the required utilities at the right moment, allowing the installation to progress smoothly.

The next steps are primarily focused on the transition from standalone to the fully automated workflow by connecting the equipment to the DxA track.
Excellent preparation and teamwork have made this step possible. A big thank you to everyone involved! From the contractors and installation teams to the laboratory staff for their hard work, flexibility and great collaboration throughout this phase.
